In 1991, Dr. Harry Wachs founded the Vision & Conceptual Development Center in Washington, DC. He invited Dr. Amanda Zeller to join the practice in 2005 and has taught her all aspects of his specialty. Dr. Wachs sold the VCDC to Dr. Zeller in 2006, and retired from the VCDC in April 2010.
Owner and director of the VCDC since early
2006, Dr. Amanda Zeller Manley earned her
Doctorate in Optometry with honors at Nova
Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale,
Florida. She completed an externship program
with emphasis in Binocular Vision at Tianjin
Medical University’s Tianjin Eye Hospital,
People’s Republic of China, studying under Dr.
Kanxing Zhao, a world-renowned expert in
strabismus, strabismus surgery, and ophthalmic
genetics. Prior to joining the VCDC, Dr.
Zeller provided patient care in San Diego,
California, and in the greater Washington, DC,
area. In addition to her tutelage under Dr. Harry Wachs,
visuo-cognitive therapy pioneer and founder of the VCDC, Dr. Zeller
has studied extensively with other experts in vision therapy and is
currently COVD (College of Optometrists in Vision Development)
board eligible. Dr. Zeller lectures at schools, workshops, and symposia
and is available for speaking engagements. Each March, Dr. Zeller participates in a volunteer mission in conjunction with Lions Clubs International to Gomez Palacio, Mexico, to provide examinations and eyeglasses to needy people. Dr. Mehrnaz Azimi Green graduated at the top
of her class from Nova Southeastern University
College of Optometry, where she specialized in
pediatrics and binocular vision, and is a Fellow
in the College of Optometrists in Vision
Development. Her expertise lies with diagnosing
and treating patients to develop their
visual and cognitive knowledge. She enjoys
working with children, including infants and
toddlers, with special needs. Dr. Green has
recently begun the process for certification in
the DIR®/Floortime™ model of autism therapy. She was the clinical
director of the Charles River Vision and Learning Center in Massachusetts
before joining the VCDC, where she was mentored by Dr. Harry
Wachs. Dr. Green enjoys speaking to parents and professionals about
visuo-cognitive therapy and has lectured at schools, conferences, and
symposia. Dr. Green volunteers at multiple area schools and has received several national awards for her skills and knowledge in vision therapy. When she’s not working, Dr. Green spends her time with her husband and two young daughters.
