Autism Spectrum Disorder

There are a wide variety of symptoms people often assume are due to autism which in fact are due to underlying vision problems which are contributing to these behaviors.  Following are specific behaviors which signal a potential vision problem.

Eye contact avoidance
Blackboard visual avoidance
Poor and uneven handwriting
Inability to listen and look simultaneously
Over use of peripheral vision
Stiff-legged walk
Poking at the sides of his eyes
Closing or covering one eye
Unable to catch or throw a ball
Closes eyes in order to hear
Plays with objects up close, such as “spinning”
